About Online Counselling @ TGL

“The Only Constant in Life Is Change.”- Heraclitus. Change sometimes can be quite smooth while in other extreme situations, life can feel like a roller coaster. People are, in general, emotional beings. It is acceptable to feel happy, enthralled, sad, furious, or terrified since these feelings are part of what makes us human. But sometimes these emotions, especially negative ones, can be overwhelming at times and take on a life of their own.

At TGL Online Counselling Service, I am here to help you figure out the best way to address your concerns.

Many times, we talk about how busy our lives have become leaving little room for self-reflection, let alone dealing with our persistent issues like anxiety, depression, traumas, relationships, to name a few. While many of us want to take the first step and do something about it, mostly it’s the paucity of time delaying our intensions which result in us having no choice but live, day in and day out with our issues, some of which may have long term repercussions. I believe it is this reason which has made Online Counselling as one of the most promising methods of counselling today all over the world.

How Does Online Counselling Set up at TGL work?

At TGL, Online Counselling sessions can be taken from any part of the world as your therapist is available via Video Call medium, Chat, or E-mail.

What does the therapist At TGL do and how can she help me?

  • Therapist acts as a neutral party who can listen and try to understand without judgement.
  • Therapist helps you learn about yourself by pointing out patterns and giving honest feedback.
  • Therapist teaches specific techniques and strategies to deal with problems.
  • Therapists can refer you to additional resources in the community that might be helpful.
  • Therapist provides a safe place to learn and practice social skills.

What you should and should not expect from your sessions at TGL?

  • The Therapist does not tell you what to do or try to direct your life in anyway. Think of the proverb: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, and you feed him for life.” The Therapist will help you learn to solve your own problems, rather than solving them for you.
  • Some mental illnesses cannot be managed by psychotherapy alone. If medication is recommended, it’s probably important.
  • Benefiting from psychotherapy does require work on your part. Taking a session at TGL and then pushing it out of your mind, probably won’t do you any good. Complete your homework (any exercises/ tools), practice your skills and try and do the self-work suggested in therapy.
  • The Therapist cannot be your friend after starting a therapeutic relationship. Therapists generally like their clients, and would love to get to know them better, but ethical rules prevent the formulation of relationships outside of treatment.
  • The Therapist cannot read your mind. If you hide information, or are dishonest, you’re wasting your own time and money.
